So I picked up Robb Wolf’s new book, the Paleo Solution this weekend.
I had just finished the Saturday WOD at CFDC, had lunch at Kozy with some cult members and was wearing my “On To The Next One” t-shirt”. With Robb’s book-in-hand, I felt like a total Crossfit tool.
The book is very easy to read and does a good job of breaking down a lot of diet mythology, especially about fat intake. Before I started to learn about Paleo, I used to avoid fat at all costs while making sure that I ate lots of “healthy” brown rice and oatmeal. To my frustration, despite all of my non/low fat choices, I could not get lean.
For the past year, I have learned to not be afraid of fat, especially when it comes from sources like nuts, avocados, coconut, and leaner cuts of meat.
And as a result, I feel like I am more fit than I have ever been in my entire life…and I am visibly much leaner.
To be honest, I cannot say that Robb’s book provided a great deal of new information for me…the coach’s at CFDC and some online sources like Mark’s Daily Apple have been very informative. But there are a lot of recipes at the end of the book that seem to justify the price of purchase…right now, I am OK with the routine and can manage a 90% Paleo-friendly lifestyle without much effort, but adding new items into my standard-menu rotation are still a big challenge.
